God is not a God of the number on the scale, the number of followers, the number of following, the number of likes, the number of retweets, the number of favorites, the number of clothes, the number of friends or even the number of no friends. He does not base His love for on you on the number of zeros behind the one in your bank account, the number of cars you drive, the number of boys who rated you hot, the number of girls who you've dated, the number of people you impress, the number of people who don't like you, the number of cards, the number of on the scale, the number they rated you, the number on the label of your jeans, the number at the top of your math test. Your worth is defined by so much more than a number. Than an event. Than the pictures you send or the pictures you receive. You're worth more than the clothes you wear or how "in" your shoes are. You are worth more than the schools you got into or didn't get into. You are worth more than you could ever know.
Because God, He is not a God of numbers. He knows you by far more than the 9 digits the government gives you. He knows you. Everything about you. From your worst fear to your most joyful moment, He knows you. And when we begin to SEE and experience and BELIEVE in just how much God loves us and how much God has for us, we begin to trust His plan. When you see God's love for you, you'll trust God's plan for you.
You are worth more to God than just a number. Than just a face. Than who you were. Or what you wear.
He looks at us, a sparkle in His eyes, an easy grin on his face. He watches the prostitute as she gets up from her cowering position after the last stone is dropped in the dust and He smiles, reaching out to her. He embraces the prodigal son who was foolish to leave but courageous to come back. He climbs mountains to find the one lost sheep after abandoning the other 99 because that ONE was so worth it. He heals the sick, the rejects, He welcomes the unwanted into His presence. He spoke to the outcast woman with 5 husbands and shows her unconditional love instead of disgust. He bears the heavy, heavy cross bearing the weight of all our sin up a mountain so that we all might welcome and embrace the chance to be free. He rises three days later, defeating death itself for everyone: even the ones He knew wouldn't return His love.
That is our God. Who loves you. Who sees you as someone worth so much more than just a number. Who welcomes your brokenness wholeheartedly.
